Four MUFC teams spent the Labor Day weekend participating in the Atlanta Cup along with over 700 other teams from around the country. Combined, the girls went 14-1-3, with three teams winning their brackets.
The girls 90 MUFC Navy won the Atlanta Cup U19 "A" division going 5-0-0. They scored 11 goals over 5 games, while keeping a clean sheet for the weekend, with wins against two strong teams from Alabama, as well as teams from Florida and Georgia.
The girls 92 MUFC Navy won the Atlanta Cup U16 "A" division with a 4-0-1 record. The ladies gave up just 2 goals over 5 games, while scoring 11. After a draw with a tough Canadian team, the 92 Navy won their remaining games vs. teams from Georgia and Florida.
The girls 93 MUFC Navy followed up their tournament win in the Twin City Classic by winning the Atlanta Cup U15 "B" division, also with a 4-0-1 record. The girls tallied 15 goals while yielding just one goal all weekend. In the finals, they faced the Cobb FC Lady Chiefs Silver, a team they tied in round robin play, but came away with a 2-0 victory.
In Greensboro, five MUFC teams participated in the Greensboro Labor Day Shootout. The 96 MUFC Navy boys team, fresh off their tournament win in Winston-Salem, battled their way into the finals of the U12 Second Division bracket. After a 4-3 win in the semi-finals against the host club’s top team, the boys lost a close game in the finals 1-0.
