A native of Buffalo, NY, Ryan played for several clubs in the Western New York and
Ontario, Canada areas. As a youth, Ryan participated in the Olympic Development Program as a member of the
New York West and Region I teams. He was fortunate enough to be selected to represent the United States at the Austropa Cup in
Austria. While attending
Canisius
High School, Ryan earned All-Western New York Honors, and was named Team MVP three consecutive years.
Ryan matriculated at the
University of
New Hampshire achieving dual degrees in Sports Administration and Business Administration. Playing four-years as a Varsity starter, Ryan served as Captain as a senior and earned America East All-Championship Team honors. Through his career, he was named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll on three occasions, was voted by his teammates Most Dedicated Player all four years, and as a Junior, he was selected as the
University of
New Hampshire Student-Athlete of the Year.
Upon graduation, Ryan played six seasons professionally. He spent the 2005, 2006, and 2007 seasons with the Charlotte Eagles, capturing the USL-2 Championship in 2005. Prior to that Ryan played for the Rochester Rhinos of the USL 1st Division. In 2003, he received the team’s Community Service Award. He also spent one season with the Kansas City Comets of the MISL.
In addition to playing for several years, Ryan has coached at various levels for the past eleven years. He has worked at several camps throughout the Northeast and Southeast. He spent two years coaching in the collegiate ranks with Pfeiffer University (Misenhemier, NC) in 2006, and the
University of
North Carolina at
Charlotte in 2006-2007. In addiotion to be the 95G Navy Coach, Ryan serves as the Director of Player Development for Mecklenburg Union FC.
